We chase money, don’t we?
Till the last of this piece, I am going to be against it.
There’s nothing wrong with admitting it that we chase it, I also do it, despite knowing that it’s not good for my mental health.
Here’s the bitter truth, we have been programmed to chase it, especially if you belong to a middle class family.
Don’t agree with me? Well, didn’t your parents suggested you a stream/career option because “Paise Bht Hai” (You can earn a lot)
Not just our parents, relatives, friends, seniors, even the guard of the society.
Yes, I agree, life feels much better with jewels and gold but here’s the catch
Money is a by-product, until and unless you can yourself mint money, it will remain by-product.
Now let’s connect the dots, so all your childhood, teenage, and most of the twenties, we have been trained to chase a by-product and not the actual product.
What’s the actual product did you ask?
Skills!
Sounds familiar, but skills are something which you get with repetition of the same activity.
To repeat it a million times, you need to be passionate about it.
To hit the last nail, hobbies and passion go hand in hand.
Now let’s an example, a dear friend of mine loved binge watching Netflix, he used to watch for 12-15 hours everyday, that was is hobby and hobby doesn’t develop with an aim of earning money and this is the catch, we have to somehow figure out how to mint money out of a hobby.
As for my friend, he started writing reviews, made a youtube channel out of it and that’s it.
He isn’t after money, he is after watching more and reviewing more.
It may sound simple but turning hobby into profession isn’t easy, because it takes time and as per my observation we are obsessed with quick 2 minutes noodles.
